SUMMARY OF VOLUNTEER DUTIES
As an outdoor living history museum that looks at over 300 years worth of history, there is always a need to restore historic equipment. But it’s worth it – having historic equipment that looks brand new in our historic spaces helps transport visitors into the past and gives them an experience to remember.
As a volunteer team member of Heritage Hill State Historical Park, you will help build a positive working environment as well as inspire, transform, and build our community through exceptional cultural and historic experiences. Under the general supervision of the Park’s Director of Operations, provides principal support and assures seamless functioning of the (Restoration/Maintenance Department).
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the Restoration/Maintenance department with the Restoration and Preservation of exhibit farm equipment at Heritage Hill’s Belgian farm area that dates from 1870-1910.
Key Responsibilities:
- Disassemble, repair, replicate missing components, clean, paint, reassembly.
The Length of Appointment: Ongoing.
Time Commitment: Flexible scheduling, however scheduling in advance is highly preferred.
Qualifications:
- Equipment repair or general mechanical understanding- however do not need to be specifically knowledgeable of the workings of old farm equipment.
- Knowledge of using oxy/acetylene torch.
- Basic knowledge of gas or MIG welding.
- Some wood working knowledge is preferred.
Support: Safety training pertaining to this position will be provided by Heritage Hill staff. All PPE and tools provided by Heritage Hill.
Age Requirement: 18+
Dress Code: Sturdy shoes, presentable and appropriate clothing for the type of duties described.
