Description

Would you like to make a difference in a child's life while also earning a modest, tax-free hourly stipend?

The Encompass Foster Grandparent Program may be the right fit for you!

The Foster Grandparent Program connects two generations, enriching seniors' lives with a sense of purpose and providing children ages infant-4 with a consistent grandparent figure who supports them in social play and classroom activities.

The Foster Grandparent Program is for volunteers who:

  • are 55 years of age or better

  • meet limited annual income guidelines as required by AmeriCorps Seniors, the program's funding source ($31,300 single, $42,300 two family unit)

  • agree to complete and pass background checks

Volunteering takes place in an assigned classroom at one of seven 5-star rated Encompass Early Education Child Care Centers in Brown County. A minimum of 5 hours per week is required (though 10 or more is ideal), with the option to volunteer up to 32 hours weekly.

Benefits of being a volunteer in the Encompass Foster Grandparent Program:

  • Receive an hourly tax-free stipend and mileage/travel allowance (which does not affect other benefits)

  • A renewed sense of purpose and connection, with children and other seniors

  • AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, receive a lot of love from children.

If you are interested in this program or know someone who might be please contact Deb Johnson, Foster Grandparent Program Director at (920) 785-9710 or djohnson@encompasswi.org.
