Volunteer: Child Watch AssistantChild Watch is a drop-in babysitting program, intended for the children of members and guests who are using the building. Volunteers assist staff by engaging with children in age appropriate activities, games, crafts, and educational experiences to promote their physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development. Volunteers must be aged 14 or older, and preference is giving to volunteers who have experience babysitting and are certified babysitters. This position requires individuals to be outgoing, energetic, and be willing to engage children, ages 6 months to 7 years old. Volunteers must be able to think on their feet, be flexible with daily duties, and be able to lift up to 30 pounds. One of our special, long-time members needs help moving around our weight room and from machine to machine while he exercises. The Personal Assistant Volunteer (aged 18 years or older) is not expected to train or physically assist the member, but to set the machine at the correct weight, and height, and to spend time talking to and getting to know the member. Patience, a good sense of humor, a caring heart, and a desire to help is key in this position. This is the perfect opportunity for volunteers who are outgoing & energetic! Volunteers must commit to volunteering at a minimum of once a week for about 1-2 hours each week. Volunteers will work with the member to set the schedule, but typically help is needed between 10 AM - 1 PM most weekdays.
