Volunteer: Grow Native Plants

Description Learn how easy it is to grow native plants and how important they are in our landscaping. Volunteers create mini greenhouses by using milk jugs to grow the plants. Participants will be able to keep what they want from the plants they grow and any extra plants will be used in restoration projects or as a fundraiser for the Winnebago Waterways Program at Fox-Wolf Watershed Alliance.   There are different ways to volunteer with this program: Collect native plant seeds in late summer/fall) Create mini greenhouses from milk jugs in fall/early winter Grow native plants by overwintering the milk jugs outdoors at your home from winter into spring Transplant the seedlings to larger pots in late spring/early summer   This program is locally coordinated by the Winnebago Waterways Program at Fox-Wolf Watershed Alliance in Winnebago, Calumet, Fond du Lac and Waushara Counties.    Interested? Contact Katie Reed, Winnebago Waterways Coordinator, Fox-Wolf Watershed Alliance at katherine@fwwa.org, 920-851-6472

Volunteer: Clean Boats, Clean Waters

Get involved in the effort to protect Wisconsin lakes and rivers by stopping the spread of aquatic invasive species. As a volunteer watercraft inspector, you will take up the front line in this fight by conducting boater education at boat landings in your community.
