PET THERAPY COMPANION VOLUNTEER
We are looking for a sweet therapy dog who you think would do well at visiting with our hospice patients. Under our pet therapy program, your specially trained dog would be able to provide companionship to our patients. Pet companionship can bring our patients a sense of peace, comfort and trust.
Dog temperament requirements:
- Must be at least one year of age and gets along well with other animals.
- Does not jump or pull while on leash
- Has a calm and sweet demeanor.
- Is comfortable in unfamiliar environments
Pet therapy volunteer program requirements:
- Owner must complete patient volunteer orientation
- Pet and owner must be registered with a nationally recognized animal organization (see below)
Acceptable Therapy Dog Registration Organizations:
- Alliance of Therapy Dogs, Inc
- Pet Partners
- Therapy Dogs International
