Description

Unpaid, volunteer positions

What does volunteering for our Glean Team project mean?
  • Gleaning is simply the act of collecting excess fresh foods from farms, gardens, farmers markets, grocers, restaurants, state/county fairs, or any other sources in order to provide it to those in need.
Our Glean Team is a multi-prong project:
1. Identify donors/partners who have excess produce/food to rescue from going to waste.

2. Volunteers to pick up and transport excess produce/food to Rooted In’s office at Trinity Lutheran Church ELCA 330 S. Broadway St. Green Bay, WI 54303.

3. Volunteers to help clean and sort rescued produce at our office to redistribute.

4. Volunteers to redistribute gleaned produce to food pantry partners.

Rooted In will directly donate, make meals or shelf stable foods with the gleaned produce/food to donate to our food pantry partners:NWTC Shared Harvest, The Fridge, and Trinity Lutheran Church ELCA

We are on a mission to feed our community and mitigate food waste. We appreciate your interest and willingness to support this vital program.
