Description

Interested in meeting neighbors? How about playing an active role in your neighborhood? Interested in joining an existing association or starting one, if not already established, to work on priorities you and your neighbors determine are important? Here's your opportunity!

First a little bit about what a Neighborhood Association is: quite simply we define it as neighbors living within a designated area of the City who are concerned about issues affecting their neighborhood and who have decided to work together to protect and ensure a better social, economic, and business climate in their Neighborhood. Neighborhood Associations act as a “voice” for the neighborhood residents, a somewhat official link to local government and the larger community. Many neighborhoods find that by banding together and forming a Neighborhood Association, they are better able to meet the collective needs of the Neighborhood.

Since 1996, with Green Bay Neighborhood's assistance, Neighborhood Associations have produced projects that:

  • Launched programs to improve neighborhood safety.
  • Provided neighborhood residents with leadership training opportunities.
  • Enhanced the community image by beautifying elements in Green Bay neighborhoods.
  • Educated residents on zoning issues and new developments that impact your area of the city.
  • Created, planned, and facilitated neighborhood events and activities for neighbors to connect.
  • Placed public art pieces in neighborhoods.

Sounds like something you'd be interested in? If you'd like to get connected with an existing Neighborhood Association, please contact Green Bay Neighborhood's Lead Staff and Community Outreach Coordinator, Vicki at vicki@gbneighborhoods.org or call 920-593-3716. If you'd like to explore organizing a new Neighborhood Association or reactivating one that has become dormant, contact the City of Green Bay's Neighborhood Support Specialist, Toni Loch toni.Loch@greenbaywi.gov or call 920-448-3350.
