The Foster Grandparent Program connects two generations, enriching seniors' lives with a sense of purpose and providing children ages infant-4 with a consistent grandparent figure who supports them in social play and classroom activities.
The Foster Grandparent Program is for volunteers who:
are 55 years of age or better
meet limited annual income guidelines as required by AmeriCorps Seniors, the program's funding source ($31,300 single, $42,300 two family unit) agree to complete and pass background checks
Volunteering takes place in an assigned classroom at one of seven 5-star rated Encompass Early Education Child Care Centers in Brown County. A minimum of 5 hours per week is required (though 10 or more is ideal), with the option to volunteer up to 32 hours weekly. Benefits of being a volunteer in the Encompass Foster Grandparent Program: Receive an hourly tax-free stipend and mileage/travel allowance (which does not affect other benefits)A renewed sense of purpose and connection, with children and other seniors AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, receive a lot of love from children.
