Volunteer: Curious about what a Volunteer Ombudsman does?

The Board on Aging and Long Term Care is looking for kind, caring adults who have a few hours each week they can devote to improving the lives of older adults living in long term care communities!

We are in need of Volunteer Ombudsmen for Brown County (but also have needs in over 30 other WI counties, too!)

So, what does a Volunteer Ombudsman do?

These advocates visit a local nursing home or assisted living community each week, have friendly conversations with residents, help to increase awareness of residents' rights, and support and empower residents to voice their concerns to help resolve issues. Volunteer Ombudsman are advocates for residents!

This volunteer opportunity is flexible. Visits with residents are made weekly and can be done anytime between the hours of 8am-8pm, any day, with no advanced scheduling. A visit typically lasts between 1-3 hours. Completion of a background check is required and training is provided.

No experience is needed - just a desire to make life better for older adults.

If you have a few hours per week to give, and enjoy being with people, this could be the perfect fit for you! Please reach out with questions or to apply!
