The curriculum includes a Facilitator Guide and Participant Workbook for ease of delivery and use during the volunteer experience. · The facilitator must have a passion for working with older adults. · The facilitator should be comfortable leading small groups of 15 older adults. · The facilitator must be a self-starter who can take charge of the Bingocize program and work effectively with a co-facilitator. · The facilitator must be willing to make a commitment to the 10-week course schedule at least once annually. Organization: Aging & Disability Resource Center Of Brown County Job Overview: Brain Enrichment (BE) is an interactive educational experience for older adults with normal age-related memory changes. The facilitator leads and guides discussions of ten, one and a half-hour interactive session with course participants. The curriculum includes learning about the brain’s processes, mental exercises to stimulate the brain, lifestyle practices for brain health and practice strategies for improving thinking and memory. Responsibilities and Duties: Present the BE Course as developed by Linda Sasser, PhD. The curriculum includes a Facilitator Guide and Participant Workbook for ease of delivery and use during the volunteer experience. The facilitator must have a passion for working with older adults. The facilitator should be comfortable leading small groups of 16 older adults. The facilitator must be a self-starter who can take charge of the BE program and work effectively with a co-facilitator. The facilitator must be willing to make a commitment to the 10-week course schedule.Preferred Qualifications: Preference for someone who has or has cared for someone with memory concerns. The candidate should be willing to make a 2-year commitment to the program. Willingness to share personal experiences to help motivate others to exercise the brain. Demonstrate timely response to project requirements. Ability to perform additional duties as required by Brain Enrichment program and agreed upon with the Prevention Specialist.Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Demonstrates passion to work with older adults, who have normal age-related memory changes, and is patient with them and has a general interest in brain health. Communicating orally in a clear manner. Promotes positive engagement and peer support. Is sensitive to participants’ challenges, especially vision or hearing impairments. The ADRC is seeking partners to join us in facilitating Powerful Tools for Caregivers classes. This six-week caregiver series provides a variety of tools and strategies to better handle situations commonly faced when caring for a loved one who has a chronic condition or is aging.
We are looking for current or former caregivers to help lead The Powerful Tools for Caregivers (PTC) classes in Brown County. Licensed class leaders are fully prepared to team-teach or co-facilitate Powerful Tools for Caregivers to groups of 8 – 15 family caregivers. PTC facilitators will lead the class with a detailed, scripted curriculum that builds on The Caregiver Helpbook. Purpose: The purpose of the Aging & Disability Resource Center shall be to ensure that all areas of community life are available and accessible to people who are older and adults with disabilities so they may have the opportunity to realize their full potential.
Powers and Duties: The Board of Directors, hereinafter referred to as Board, shall be the principal governing body of the Aging & Disability Resource Center of Brown County. The Board shall have the following powers and duties: Serve as an effective and visible advocate for people who are older and adults with disabilities and support the advocacy efforts of the staff and agency. Receive, disburse and administer funds for services and programs for people who are older including those programs mandated by the Older Americans Act, the State of Wisconsin, and Brown County; assure that people have the opportunity to contribute to the cost of these programs. Develop and implement a comprehensive, coordinated county aging plan, deliver, monitor, and develop programs for people who are older with annual revisions, incorporating and promoting consumer participation. Collaborate with other community agencies providing services and programs for adults with disabilities. Give policy direction to staff to carry out activities consistent with the purpose of the Aging & Disability Resource Center. Review and approve proposals relating to matters affecting people who are older and adults with disabilities that are considered by the County Board. Provide information and referrals to individuals, groups and the community about, the needs, interests, circumstances and services available to people who are older and adults with disabilities. Work cooperatively with county service agencies in organizing, developing, modifying and expanding available services and programs for people who are older and adults with disabilities. Identify, encourage, and advocate for the development of opportunities which enable people who are older and adults with disabilities to fully contribute to the welfare of the community. Assure that the agency is in compliance with federal, state, and county regulations.
Expectations: Attend regularly scheduled meetings and be available for periodic taskforce meetings, special events, and public hearings. Review meeting materials and participate in discussions of board agenda items. Request additional information or training about any issues, programs, policies or procedures that may be unclear. Participate in training or informational meetings available to board members. Identify unmet needs or barriers to quality services of the target populations and share this information with the board. Encourage input from stakeholders concerned about the target populations.
Qualifications: Strong interest in the health, safety and well being of all target populations. Have no financial interest or governing position in a managed care organization. Ability to effectively participate in a committee setting.
Terms of Office: Board appointments shall be for three (3) years. Board members shall not serve more than six (6) consecutive years. After a one-year interval, they may be reappointed.
