Who We Are
The State of WI Board on Aging and Long Term Care is an agency focused on improving the quality of life for older adults living in WI! We advocate for the interests of WI's long term care consumers, inform those consumers of their rights, and educate the public about health care systems and long term care. Our values encompass: respect and dignity for the individual; protection of their rights to be free from threats to health, safety, and quality of life; fairness and transparency; and open, clear, and consistent communication.
What We Do
If you enjoy visiting with older adults, this opportunity could be perfect for you! We are looking for volunteer advocates to improve the lives of older adults living in nursing homes all over NE WI - and specifically in Brown County and the surrounding areas! These advocates make regular drop-in style visits to a designated nursing home or assisted living facility, where they meet with residents to have friendly conversations, during which volunteers educate about resident rights and empower residents to resolve concerns they may have. Training is provided, and ongoing support is always available. This opportunity is flexible - visits are 1-2 hours in duration and can be made any day of the week between 8am-8pm. A background check is required. Please consider becoming a volunteer advocate in your community!
